Hormone Balancing Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups chopped organic kale

So why is this a “hormone-balancing” smoothie? For starters, kale is a superfood that contains an important compound called Indol-3-carbinol which plays a role in the detoxification of estrogen from the body. Ground flaxseed is rich in lignans which acts as food for the gut. And why does the gut matter you ask? The gut microbiome plays a role in the metabolism of estrogen. Full fat yogurts from goat or sheep milk contain a higher ratio of A2 proteins compared to A1 proteins which have been associated with leaky gut and inflammation.
